For photography purposes, this is irrelevant and has nothing to do with image resolution. DPI/PPI is merely an instruction set that is largely ignored by photo labs. An image that is 5000x4000 @ 72 DPI is the same exact size when "saved" @ 300 DPI: the resolution (5000x4000) didn't change. Now if you are designing something and need to establish the resolution, then it matters.
