As I believe I mentioned in the post, no, the SOOC Nef got deleted. My point was a comparison between ACR/Lightroom and CNX2 with the D800e, nothing more. The CNX2 crops on flickr are from the camera.

But probably with the in camera picture control sharpening sharpening applied (unless further sharpening steps are applied by what you call "gurus") which is not ideal for D800/E pre-sharpening. Did you undo the picture control sharpening before applying what the "gurus" recommended?

Kaj, it appears you are some sort of mission, but I must decline to go along, sorry. I'm quite happy with the results I get with ACR unless I can be shown better, which for the moment I doubt. Pixel peeping sharpening settings has only so much entertainment value, and we're there. For my purposes, the camera is out of the picture taking equation. It's all up to me now. The OP asked, I gave my opinion based on the two most prominent raw conversions for the D800e. Take it or leave it.

Or better yet, put up some samples of your own and don't forget the raw.

I am not on a mission of any kind, was just interested in why the capabilities of Lightroom would outshine other RAW editors regarding sharpening.

As to sharpening of D800E files I don't have that version. Settled on the D800 after playing around with NEFs from both cameras from the web before making my decision. I am used to capture sharpening fro previous DSLRs so the decision was easy.

I would be happy to play  with any original NEF file you can provide and compare what we both can achieve with different RAW converters.
