Yes that is definitely a plus for the e-pl5 very or almost the same outputs. What makes not still sure about it is the no viewfinder option. shooting the camera like a point and shoot dont really think i will get use to it....

(thanks for the replies).

I'm not sure I understand the point of leaving a great D800 at home, but taking two M43 cameras instead. Would that not make the portability argument irrelevant?

Also I am interested to know why you need a backup camera at all, particular one so close in size and performance as the gx1/epl5. If you were to take a backup camera which may never see the light of day, in case your OMD breaks down i would suggest go even smaller and portable like a P.S.

Will definitely love to take the D800 +35mm 1.4 lens, but weight is an issue and that will sum up to more then 4500$ in equipment, only for the combination. I bought the camera to use it, (I live in brazil and do use it a lot even in the streets), but my back is not my best friend right now, and even the two m43 camera systems will be easier on my back then carrying the D800 with the omd as a backup, also that will be a heck lot of money if something were to happen to the equipment, I will be staying in hostels.
