prefer a Canon PowerShot Pro1 X (24-96)...
In reply to papybenenuts, 4 months ago

●●● prefer a Canon PowerShot Pro1 X (HS/HDR/IS):
12.9-51.8mm f/2.4-5.0 (24*-96mm FoV f4.5-9.3 FF Equivalent)

*Canon PowerShot G/Pro series is long overdue for a built-in starting zoom at a wider 24mm FoV FF Equivalent (they've been avoiding it for too long; protecting their EF Lens FF dSLR 24 FoV Scenarios (24/24-70/24-105) and APS-C (15-85)); puh-leez... no bulky tack-on 0.85x/0.8x/0.7x) 'adapter/converter LENSES' thx...

12.9/2.4 = 5.4mm ApDiam
51.8/5.0 = 10.4mm ApDiam

● keep PowerShot G 3" VASS (Vari-Angle Swivel Screen)
● keep PowerShot G Optical Tunnel (but include 'manual zoom/focus' ring; so one can preview zoom/focus w/o power)

● improve on it's Mini-EOS-1 Dual Controls
● improve on it's grip (more substantial)
● improve on FLEXIBILITY of its HDR function (be able to choose all three exposure settings in M.E.)
● improve on FLEXIBILITY of its DRO (highlight and shadow control: dial-able % (dial-able ISOs)) so on can have more natural looking 'single capture' images in 'bright contrasty' situations w/o pp or reliance on RAW

● OFFER Flexible 'Full M.E.' Multple Exposure control for JPEGs (not just RAW)

● offer NEW LENS GLASS, but...
● borrow LENS aperture structures from PowerShot G1 X (HS/HDR/IS) which has:
15.1-60.4mm f/2.8-5.8 (28-112mm FoV f5.2-10.8 DoF FF Equivalent)

15.1/2.8 = 5.4mm ApDiam
60.4/5.8 = 10.4mm ApDiam

● using same image sensor size as G1 X (but improvements of it; maybe matching new upcoming 70D sensor (not EOS M); if pixel pitch matches XXD series like the G1 X matched the 60D/650D)
● IMPROVE on its AF... (a given; since this is a big weak point)
● IMPROVE on its MF (make it more 'direct' (see above: 'control ring'))
● UNLOCK/EXTEND Canon PowerShot 'Exposure Simulation LiveView' so we can see under just MOONLIT conditions (and brighter daytime IR/Deep/Dark ND shooting)... [we know MagicLantern already unlocks Canon dSLRs to do the same for super-extreme low light; no reason why Canon keeps the 'sim' so restricted]
