You can see the reviewers bias in the first few lines, where he calls the conssept of a big zoom camera "absurd".

Many reviewers seem to want to judge the camera on everything except for what it was made for. The camera was made to be a superzoom p&s, but the reviewer seems little interested in this aspect of the camera.

I see no value in a review that does not focus on the cameras primary purpose. The camera recieved no grading for it its zoom capability.

600mm is the limit in DPR. If they put all superzooms to test on their longest FL, you know who will be spanked really hard.

Unless you add a TC which is an accessory for the FZ Series as designed by Panasonic, then FZ200 even at 1020mm the Canon SX50 would struggle at 1200mm to out resolve the FZ200 w/ TC…and Close Ups with Canon SX50? Great when you can get them with a SLOW shutter speed…Bee's, Dragonflies, Flies, Butterflies are all hard to get with slow shutter speeds I don't care who you are...

Mr Ichiro Kitao, I support the call to upgrade the FZ50.
I will not only buy one but two no questions asked...

Unfortunately Cole you can also add a TC to any superzoom so it will be infinite battle on who's the longest.

DPR seems to be afraid of putting a superzoom shootout nowadays coz they know one or two will be left alone in that comparison. They should equally treat one with constant aperture, one who can resolve greater detail on the longest zoom and one with unique feature like you know manual zoom, manual focus ring, evf sensor etc etc. They should also abandon that studio comparison coz they cant even equalize settings. Learn how to PP RAW and not just post a lousy default output. Find the optimal JPEG setting for each camera like NR and sharpness.

Unfortunately Joms ONLY the FZ Series is designed for this and you run into lens drooping/decentering issues on other Superzooms

I.E. HS30 and X-S1 and SX50 unless you use a lesser TC like TC-E15ED…I know I tried it…the TC-17ED is too heavy for Canon SX50 and the zoom mechanism cannot function with the weight at least not mine…the TC-E15ED is the best bet and then you're limited to full zoom only…TC-E17ED works on the FZ200 from 53mm to 108mm EFL 500mm to 1020mm approx...

The biggest issue with the other cameras is even when you add the TC you are still at f/5.6 or f/6.5 at full zoom while the FZ200 is at f/2.8, you then run into stabilization problems and getting blurry shots or slow shutter and subject movement blur...

The FZ series is designed for a TC and even has a built in TC and Close Up Conversion Mode in the Menu…designed and fit for purpose...
