Nikon AFs 50 mm D type and Gtype difference

Hello experts,

I have a small questions

I heard that Nikon 50mm AFS D lens and G lenses for one of the best lenses with value for money, I am using D 90, which one should i prefer D type or G type ?? and what are the difference between both I mean advantages and disadvantages)
