On my DSLRs, I do not use video at all.  I use my DSLRs in the studio to shoot high quality stills, the only reason I bought them.

However, on my micro43 and NEX cameras, I take these cameras with me to parties, various outings and vacations.  In these circumstances I shoot a lot of video, as well as stills.

Video can capture the dynamics of the situitation, often better than stills alone can.  Shooting video requires a somewhat different skill set than shooting stills, and so, requires a different approach.  Learning how to shoot video properly is important.
