Can I just confirm the above. Acronis TI works perfectly on Windows 8. I have done a full recovery from a backup, so can fully endorse it works I do a full backup every few days, to an SSD take around 3-4 minutes with verification enabled.

Whenever I've used Acronis I've always installed it on my PC, used the facility within the installed program to make the bootable CD, un-installed it from my PC and then used the bootable CD for all backups and restores. Just a suggestion you might like to consider.
