Live View... how does it work for you?

Other than to occasional focus check.. and videos... I never use live view. I was playing with it yesterday for a bit and noticed something that I had not really paid attention to before .. and that is... a shot taken with live view is usually way over exposed compared to a normal non-live view shot. Why would this be? Would it not use the same metering? ... in my case it was set to matrix. I really don't care much other than curiosity as I'm completely satisfied how my cam works in normal non-live view.
