it is steady... very steady
the gimbal though a little stiff moves quite smoothly, would have liked to move it slightly further but the setup doesn't allow, reasonably balanced
the legs of the Benro come with spikes which you have to attach
much easier to focus when the tripod is steady

never having owned a lens this big I didn't know what to expect, the sigma 50-500 is like a feather compared to this tank of a lens, the tripod I had was a manfrotto 190XPROB
so for $725 I think I did ok
