Seriously. Nothing would make me happier this year other than a Canon FF body with swivel screen.

No G2X coming. Why not? Mainly because too many people said they wouldn't buy a G1X because they wanted something even more fanciful. Though Canon had no initial intention of producing an ongoing series from the G1X, they might have considered it if sales were high and reviews were strong. Also, the G1X was not a new series but a stand-alone camera designed as a Proof Of Concept product. Hence, the still-quite-recent G1X is the camera to buy right now. The soonest they would consider releasing a G2X (assuming one was slated for production) would be some time in either March or September of 2014. The G1X is quite an accomplished camera in terms of design, features and IQ output. It actually leaves me in awe that so many people would pass on the G1X and would rather wait for a not-so-likely to be released hypothetical G2X. Wishful thinking isn't going to change the fact that the G1X puzzled too many reviewers to excite the public and that the lower-than-hoped sales will negate any future desire by Canon to release a sequel. Canon play things safer than other manufacturers and any shareholder would not want Canon to risk a G2X when the G1X was so poorly received. Not that it was in any way a bad camera: The G1X is a superb camera that outclasses anything else in the non-DSLR/non-Mirrorless range and it even exceeds the IQ and capabilities of a few of those too.

However, an EOS-M2X might very well offer a full frame sensor. This is a distinct possibility although there are no partially-confirmed rumors or reports. Though it's not just wishful thinking. And it might also include the swivel LCD which people wanted on the EOS-M.

One thing that is absolutely certain is that any Full Frame non-DSLR mirrorless Canon will be well over $3200 for just the body. This isn't because Canon want to screw the consumer. It's because of the cost of producing a full-frame sensor and the ratio of sensor production Vs defects based on 8" wafer production. Expect a high price... over $3K, if an EOS-M series camera comes out with a full frame sensor.

But in first place, many photographers wanted a camera just like the G1X for years. When it was announced, many raved about it. After its serious shortcomings like slowness-of-everything and the almost useless OVF, feelings went really icy for the majority. A few still wanted it including me, and I bought one. I sold it for other reasons and not mainly because its cons. Actually, one of the things that made crazy the most was that I could never figured it out how to go from AF to manual focusing without going into questioning my life first.

Some few more months later and I still want to own a camera like the G1X. No new camera that appeared before or after the G1X can surpass its pros. For that reason, it is still totally reasonable to buy one asap. I think Canon should continue the saga. Even for megacorps there must be other things than pure profit!

PR perhaps? Or product (and brand) worshipping from photo fanatics?

I've loved all your work produced with the G1X. Your writings about it are authoritative in shape and I believe truthful or at least well intentioned. Do you have some connection to Canon? Or its just some really well educated guesses? Just curious.
