+1 - the Tamron is not that slow focusing with the Sony screw drive.

Only with Canikon does it use micro motor in lens - and yes then it is slow.

Optically this lens is very good. Really the biggest problem with this lens is shared by the Sigma - no focus limiter. If the lens does miss focus it takes a while to wind back. Some experience using this lens will give you good results and if you can keep it on target you will find it quite fast focusing actually.

Optically this lens is nearly equal to any 70-200 2.8 on the market.

I had one for a few years and would buy another in a heartbeat if I was in the market for that range lens.
