Wider and faster? Probably not. Wider or faster on the other hand there is a fair selection of 24 f1.4 lenses, or even 28 f1.8 lenses (not quite as wide but faster, which is what I'll be getting).
I also however want a wide fast lens from the point of view of control over DoF, in which an equal aperture FF lens clearly has the upper hand.
The only reason people care about the speed of a lens is for DOF considerations and how much light it projects on the sensor for a given shutter speed. In that sense, then, f/2 on mFT is the same "speed" as f/4 on FF.
I don't think people shooting 4/3 or u 4/3 are looking for super shallow DOF wide angle.
If they were they wouldn't be shooting 4/3 or u 4/3-they would be shooting FF or medium format.
u 4/3 fast wide angle lenses (e.g. 12mm f/2.0) are fast for available light purposes, not shallow DOF.
Either way -- DOF and the total amount of light projected on the sensor for a given shutter speed go hand-in-hand. In other words, not only does f/2 on mFT have the same DOF as f/4 on FF, it also projects the same total amount of light on the sensor (which results in the same noise for equally efficient sensors).
So, DOF or available light (noise), f/2 on mFT is equivalent to f/4 on FF.
