Kyoto in March-Special Places

We have three weeks based in Kyoto, Japan starting in mid-March and have already deeply researched the usual suspects: Temples, gardens, etc. I'm wondering though if someone might have any off-the-beaten-path tips to offer for this photographic journey based on their past experience?
