I am the new owner of a Tamron 70-200 F2.8

I can add that my copy is very sharp at F2.8 but becomes tack sharp at F3.5.

Using it in a zoo recently it was fine for focusing on the larger slower animals (I was aiming at the eyes) but birds that made tiny darty movements were out of focus. The focusing is fine for my needs but it isn't super fast and does hunt in low light - But we all knew that right?

If you compare the photzone tests of the Canon version against the Canon 70-200 mk II you will see that optically the Tamron lags behind by less than 5%. That says something to me at least! Of course focusing speed is a different matter!
