RX100 video nightclub test (extreme low light)
Jan 14, 2013

I am evaluating a new Sony RX100. I am fairly new to this and would like feedback on the video images themselves. There are two different settings in local bars with extremely poor lighting - as in mis-aligned spots in the first link and ceiling pot lighting in the second. Love both of these venues so I'd like to do more. Basically, I pointed the camera on a Auto setting and pressed the "record" button.

In both of the video groups I didn't have to use zoom. I have tried zooming further back in the room and found that if the lighting is poor, then there is a lot of artifacts in the image. I have one other set of videos taken further back with zoom (even optical) and am surprised at the decent quality. These are not broadcast quality by any means but waaaay better than anything else I have tried.

Setting 1. Inside - misaligned spots

Setting 2. Ceiling pot lights

Looking for any observations on the quality of the images (good, bad, whatever) and while composition wasn't my focus any tips for videoing night clubs warmly received.
