A question for gun owners

"If a gun kept in a home was used, who did it shoot, and what were the consequences?"

How much more likely is your family likely to be involved in a shooting if you own a gun compared to homes with no gun?

Why is the NRA trying to stop research into this question?

Answer before you move to the answer in my next post.

"Moving parts in rubbing contact require lubrication to avoid excessive wear. Honorifics
and formal politeness provide lubrication where people rub together.
Often the very young, the untraveled, the naive, the unsophisticated deplore these
formalities as "empty," "meaningless," or "dishonest," and scorn to use them.
No matter how pure their motives, they thereby throw sand into machinery that does not
work too well at best."
