Still for the 40D regarding the peripheral AF points, I was never able to used them efficiently when they was all selected. However, using the joystick it was pretty easy to select one particularly at a time. But anyway none of those points were at any moments as fast and precise than the ones of the 6D.

Thanks for your lovely review of the 6D, Phillipe!

I too am concidering the 6D, but coming from the 40D I have been a bit concerned about the 6D AF system. Obviously, the 6D center focus point seems to be working great, but are you also saying that the peripherial focus points of the 6D are working better for you than the peripherial focus points on your 40D?

Cheers!

Rune

Hi Rune,

happy that you appreciate my little review...

Definitely yes. When the AF points was used in group on the 40D the focus was almost never done where I would like when it's exactly the contrary with the 6D.

Taken individually the peripheral points on the 40D was always locking quickly on normal daylight but with a final result that the maximum sharpness was not achieved like with the center point.

under poor light I was only using the center point as the peripheral was almost not working properly.

In one word yes the AF of the 6D is really much precise, snappy and useful in a wider type of circumstances than the one of my beloved 40D.

best regards,
