I think Canon are starting to lower the spec of the original G line to split it into two lines ,the original G & the G-X line, a bit like the EOS Rebel & xxD line In SLR's .

Think all you want but that isn't the case. You can't make a camera a little smaller without losing the flip-out LCD. And if you are ever needing to set a certain ISO, you'll have the time to set it through the ISO button which gives quick and easy access to it. I'm glas the took it off as it's not anything I would use often. I'd rather use auto ISO and get the shot than be messing with tie ISO dial or use an ISO too low or too high because I had it set on the dial.

And the G15 has notably faster autofocus and a faster aperture than the G1 X.

Who said everybody wants a camera to be smaller especially at the expense of loosing useful features.

if you want automation & a small cameras get a pocket P&S but leave the semi pro compacts with all there features alone for photographers, all we have done is stated fact that canon as crippled parts of the G15.
