epson 3880 printing problem

my epson 3880 suddenly stopped printing. iv'e done extensive cleaning of the print head and still nothing, the head passes over the paper but not a single drop of ink gets sprayed on the paper. the only error i get is a "paper sensor error" and that's only if i try a head alignment. funny thing is when i look at the "print count" it states that iv'e printed over 400 pages ?!, not even close maybe 150, maybe. and yes this was a refurb from epson. anyone out there have any experience with this, i read that repairs are so expensive it's like throwing good money after bad. maybe time to switch to canon printers? idk...any info would be great.
