Why do you need 36MP?

While camping at the Valley of Fire a few weeks ago I was walking around taking landscape shots, waiting for the sun to go down when I was caught by surprise by 4 Big Horn Sheep.  I only carried my 24-70 on my D800 because I was doing a lot of rock climbing so I I knew I'd have to crop like hell but began shooting anyway.  I upped the SS to 1/400 and prayed that at least some of the shots would be usable.  This is about a 100% crop, sharpened in NX2 using Jason's method.

Cropability of D800 images is what I like the best about this camera.
