You did a very good job of answering the question. Without volume to spread costs across chips can get very expensive quickly.
I am sure Sigma will continue to milk the Merrill generation for another year, going forward though they really need to get a new image processor to go with it. The dual TRUE II processors can barely handle the current sensors output volume of data.
If Sigma wants to move on to a Full Frame X3 they will have to deal with at least 2X the current sensor. Get ready for 100mb raw files. Hello TRUEx3.
