RX-100 Playback Mode: When zooming in why does it zoom in all the way first instead of gradually?

When Taking a photo and then going back to playback mode, I often like to zoom in to see some details; I noticed after a shot when I rock the zoom level to zoom in instead of gradually zooming into whatever I want it to see, it does that opposite; it zooms WAY too much in and then I have to zoom back out to see more of the image; is there a setting or a way to change this so that it zooms gradually instead of all the way to start?
