Buying a S100?

It's really not about the grip. My Nikon S8100 doesn't have a grip. I don't carry around a tripod, but even if I rest the S100 on a flat surface, it's incapable of anything close to what the Nikon S8100 did.

I will say this, at close range, the S100 does OK, but in poor light at any kind of distance, the S100 seems incapable of gathering light.
