It can be done in a quality compact

I used a Fuji E550 and it had a optical viewfinder (tunnel) that was very usable for me.

1/1.7"  Super CCD HR • 6.3 million effective pixels

I currently use a Canon s90 and it doesn't but could have a built-in optical viewfinder.

1/1.7" (7.44 x 5.58 mm)    10.4 megapixels

The manufacturers have not provided explanations why a quality optical viewfinder can not be built into today's compact cameras.

While I have figured out how to use the read LCD it has many problems, especially on sunny days.

I wish I new a way to get the major camera manufacturers to address this deficiency.
