Ergonomics of P3 vs PL2

I know both bodies are 'old' and supplanted by better bodies. (The P5 is soon to be announced) I had the PL2 and it was fine.  However, the P3 has touch screen and the extra knob.  Is the P3's ergonomics MUCH better than the PL2?  They look quite similar in the number of bottons, dial etc.  Except the P3 has an extra dial in the back - which I presume to make all the difference.

Any confirmation on that?
