Newborn photo advice for a parent
Jan 12, 2013

I haveaaa Nikon 3100 with a stock lens. I am going to buy a Nikon af-s 50mm 1.8g after googling for a week.

I have started my prop collection, blankets, bean bag, basket, wooden box.

Now my baby will be born in February and I am concerned about how much natural light I can get. I have a large patio door facing the garden where the sun rises and a 3mx1.8m living room window where the sun sets. I live in the uk so bright light is not great.

My reading suggests due to the large aperture of the lens letting in more light I won't need a flash? I can't fund a new flash and a new lens at the same time.

Should I shoot i shoot in raw for post editining?

Thank you.
