Its worth it to hire a professional - just like photography

Get someone who really knows IT to help you image and transfer your entire system to the new computer. This is much less painful than reloading all of your software.  As a pro you are much better at photography than an IT professional.  It works the same in reverse.  Someone who really knows IT can also help you set up a robust back up system that can also be properly and painlessly archived (and transferred when hardware needs upgrading, or maybe they will be able to advise you of good cloud storage.).  If you find the right person at the right time, perhaps you can do a really good job photographing his/her wedding, and in return they can help you upgrade your system and set up the proper procedures and workflow for you to manage it easily - you both win.
