Yeah, they do exist. I have not long come off of eBay and there are quite a few of them. The ones i see there are made by Markins and some company called Sunwayfoto. I guess other companies make them too.

Maybe you missed this above part of my reply... in fact, I use any plate I wish, drill two threaded holes anywhere it suits and secure the camera from twisting by two headless screws. It doesn't need much tightening of them.

Btw, Manfrotto uses this since long at their tripods to prevent the respective head from rotating.
