Can Sony E-mount be used with Full frame sensor?

On the background of Sony MirrorLess interchangeable camera with Full Frame sensor rumors:
Can Sony E-mount be used with Full frame sensor? Flange Diameter of E-mount is 44mm, it supposed to be enough to cover FF diagonal (43.3mm). It would be good since all adapters to legacy lenses will be compatible.
And: does it mean E-mount lenses will be capable to work on FF without vignetting? As I know 16-50mm cannot for sure: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50489595 What about other lenses? Any thought?
