By much of the logic being postulated in this thread, no photograph before modern DSLRs is worth much.

I think people might look at the history of photography and realize what equipment was being used for much of what is seen. HCB, Ansel, Brassai, Evans, Capa were genius artists using the most basic of equipment by today's standards. They made magical images.

Modern DSLRs are great for chasing kids around taking family photos. Fast AF for sports. Amazing resolution for Landscapes. But the most important link in the chain is the human eye/mind combination of "seeing".

Don't blame the equipment. Use what you have and make great art.

My students often make their best images with a 1970's pentax K1000 and ilford b&w film. Give them a digital camera and something bad happens. I don't exactly know why, but it is the honest truth.
