what camera is best

guessing this is a loaded question on a forum full of experts...but i'm really in need of some guidance

i have minimal time on my hands with a newborn and an off-the-wall toddler.  and we are in desperate need of a new camera - just a simple point & shoot.

our wish list is:

- FAST image capture.  our current (now broken/dropped on tile by toddler) camera took fooorrrreeevvveeerrr between when you pressed the button, and when the image was captured.  missed a million moments already between my son and daughter b/c it just took too long to catch the shot.

- good zoom

- excellent picture quality in high or low light
