Perform this test:

  1. Set your camera to take RAW+JPG
  2. Make sure that the JPGs are at max quality
  3. Take pictures at different ISO values
  4. Convert the RAW files to JPG & compare to the JPG files that the camera created

My Canon G12 is noticeably better with the .JPGs that were converted from RAW files wo. any tweaking.  You camera might be better at creating .JPGs.  If the .JPGs taken in the camera look better than the converted pictures, try the demo version of some of the 3rd party applications such as DXO Optics Pro.
