I think you know more about this than I do, so I'm not arguing with your knowledge of the Minolta system. But I do want to point out: In my first round of tests, I was in HSS mode. It was only after you mentioned HSS that it occurred to me that this might make a difference, so I turned it off. And as far as I can tell, shooting without HSS is no worse, and might even be ever so slightly better.

Anyway, HSS looks like a non-factor, at least to me right now.
