Object size appearence at the lateral extreme of an image area

Does the size of an imaged object change as a direct function of the distance from the camera regardless of whether it is in the direct center focal path or off to a side of the imaged area (laterally offset) ?  I'm assuming that the camera position and focal length are constant, and the surface on which the object is positioned is flat relative to the camera.  Thanks.
