Why was every shot at f/5.6?
Jan 10, 2013

Hope you appreciate that there some of us still learning -- so please don't get frustrated with my stupid questions

I took a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VRII to the zoo yesterday.  I also played around the house with it a bit changing the ISO from 200 to 400 on my D90.  Every shot came out at f/5.6 while the shutter speed changed as needed (I shoot in Aperture priority).

At the zoo, I held the ISO at 200 all day (not always the best move as I saw some blur due to animal movement -- it was a cloudy day).  Most (if not all) shots were at f/5.6.

Can you help me understand why?  BTW, I shot everything in RAW -- and believe me -- straight from the D90 -- post processing is a must.

Thanks,

-gene
