Look below my sig for a photo that I got with my FZ50 because of the articulating LCD, one I'd have probably not gotten otherwise.

You don't TAKE a photo, you MAKE a photo.

Very ..... VERY... nice shot!

But you could have gotten that shot with a plain old articulating screen .. the variety that the P510 uses ... drop down/up. That way.. you get your cake and eat it too.... as you could retain a full vertical row of function buttons on the left side.

Nikon AF - One Shot ..... One Kill

I could have gotten it with a flip down screen IF there wasn't a branch directly over my head. As it happens, I don't recall if there was, but a flip-only screen still requires that you're behind the camera to see it. Anyhow...

If making the screen articulated causes a loss of body controls then I agree it would be an issue. I didn't have that issue with the FZ50 nor my T3i. (In fact the FZ50's screen flipped down and THEN twisted.) And thanks for the comment on the shot, I've always been pleased with it. Never knew what the inside of a bird's mouth looked like before. It got a 7th place in a dpreview sandbag fest, er, photo challenge.

A new category... BIN (birds in nest)?
