Turn the focus assist light off

Seems a bit crazy, but I have read theads about it and can absolutely confirm following: In low light when the focus assist light comes on (you see a large rectangle in the LCD bounded by dashes) the focus assist light very often leeds to out of focus pictures. Turn it off and the focus is MUCH more accurate.

And I suggest that you only activate the centre focus point. Focus on this, half-press the shutter release to store distance and exposure and then frame the image before pressing down. That way YOU determine what you focus on and not the camera (which will pick a random object depending on distance or contrast).
