I agree with Sybersitizen on the whole - in my experience the contribution of the pop-up is negligible in normal shooting situations. It is visible in some extreme cases though e.g. when dealing with complex low light off camera flash set ups where the pop up is quite close to a subject. This is where the IR pass filter / exposed 35mm film strip comes in handy. Metz actually supply a IR pass through 'clip' to go on the pop-up for this reason but I dont own a Metz flash and have never been able to find one for sale separately.
