Amateur first submission

Hello

I'm a dslr user for 3 yrs. I like sunrise and sets mainly, I tend towards oversaturated and over toned appearance. See link below. Currently shooting with D700. I shoot for my pleasure only. Lately I've wanted a more realistic appearance, but always seem to end up with stuff like this. I like minimalist scenes, color and often a few bare tree branches.

Any suggestions in changing ones style. I process with Lightroom4, self teaching CS6. Or is this just a slow process. I wonder if I just subconsciously gravitate towards what I know?

Any comments appreciated.  Any comments on how to post pics here would be appreciated as well.  thanks for looking.
