Sony has been trying to market lenses...Other companies and older out of production lenses not only fill 'the void' ...in very many cases they outperform at a fraction of the price.

I have seen many great pictures from $50 used minolta lenses taken with an a99. I am not sure sony saw that one coming. They make features that only work with sony lenses purposely to try and gain lens market-share.(nothing wrong, but people generally do not like the exclusiveness of features that seem to be overtly financially oriented)

If they settled down and tried a little less to be all over the board with the sensor marketing, different  mounts ..adaptability marketing ect....

Then they would have a excellent  photography base that doesnt wonder or worry if they will be 'abandoned' for buisiness. If you like the other mounts great..five years from now the nex mount may be abandoned. Though sony probably has many sensor contracts that are cross compatable.

If things start looking bleak in the future, grab a a100 in decent shape off ebay. The a100 ought to keep everyone going for quite a while .

.By then maybe noise in photos will have a certain nostalgia like the hiss and crackle of record albums.

Then the a100 will rock!!!!...and if something here i said is incorrect or wrong, i am dumber than a box of these....brian
