Why isn't there more buzz about the Olympus 17mm f1.8?

For a company at the brink of bankruptcy, Olympus has surprised everyone last year by releasing products of outstanding quality : the M.Zuiko 12mm, the M.Zuiko 45mm, the M.Zuiko 60mm Macro, the M.Zuiko 75mm, the first m4/3 macro zoom (the M.Zuiko 12-50mm) and the extraordinary OM-D e-m5 (that we knew, well in advance, that it would be qualified as one of the best cameras of the year). Like King Midas, everything that Olympus touched during 2012 seemed to turn into gold.

A lot of people (as I do) expected the M.Zuiko 17mm to be the perfect prime for street photography: a design like the 12mm, manual/automatic mode switching ring, distance scale, in glass and metal. When Lenstip released its devastating review , that was a shock for many people.

Even if most end-users seem to like that lens, there is no buzz because our expectations were too high.

Now many people are just waiting for its price to go down substantially or wait for an updated version of that lens.
