That is true, but why not just use your Alpha DSLR body instead? The size and weight must be pretty similar. What draws you to use the adapter rather than the DSLR body? I am interested in your thoughts given that you have borh.

A55 is perhaps the smallest and lightest DSLR/DSLT body but it is still twice the size/weight of NEX-3. And the two almost always go together in my sling, leaving room for two additional lenses (if I had two A55s, there would be no room for extra lenses in the main compartment).

But, more importantly, NEX-3 works as the backup. I might put Sony 16-50 SSM on NEX-3 and Minolta 200G on A55 (or vice versa) and head to shoot indoor rodeo over the weekend, with fisheye and 135mm STF or 35mm f/1.8 (also A-mount) at hand.

On another occasion when my wife may steal my A55 w/16-50 as she normally does, I would take Sigma 18-250 to put on NEX-3 and not miss much but the UI (a major reason for NEX-6 consideration).

But consider this lens lineup with NEX-6 and A55 bodies...

E-mount lenses:

Sony 10-18mm f/4 OSS

Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS

Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 E

Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS

Sony 85mm f/1.8 OSS (Hoping for it)

A-mount lenses:

Sony 16-50mm f/2.8 SSM

Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 HSM OS

Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG

Sony 135mm f/2.8 STF

Minolta 200mm f/2.8 G APO HS

The E-mount lenses offer compactness, and A-mount lenses offer reach. I could choose to replace A55 with RX1 and use all lenses on NEX-6 as long as LA-EA2 gets me the performance (and so far, it looks like it).
