Retail Week report Jessops going into administration.

20 years ago this retailer was great, but now most photographers know more about equipment than Jessops staff and thats because of the internet.

Also their stock levels have been very poor, particularly if you want high end. It was only the large stores that had any high end product in stock.

There "click and collect" is shocking becuase I have twice ordered and gone to collect only to find they couldn't sell the item to me because they were display items, also their postcode software they use is ancient.

Sad to see another photographic shop go, BUT I think Jacobs had more experienced staff and certainly held more stock.

I guess we live in a world where you can order up to 6pm and get it delivered to your home the next day, all at a cheaper price and with the knowledge that you can return it for a refund.

I have an excellent independent near me who can get stuff quicker than Jessops, often the next day.

However I feel very sorry for the staff.
