Just bought 5D mark III - heard Nikon D800E is much better image Quality? did i make a mistake?

Some years ago, Canon announced the development of a 50Mpix prototype sensor.  At that time, the introduction of a camera with such a sensor would likely have been seen as overkill, but now that the D800/E has had market success, it would probably be looked upon as a welcome advance.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Canon respond to the D800/E with their own competitive model, in the not-too-distant future.
