As a former owner of this body, the Canon 550D (and historically all Rebels) definitely overexposes about half a stop. Had to compensate down almost always. In comparison the Fuji X-E1 trumps it in default exposure and white balance.

In looking further at the sample images posted, on both my laptop and desktop Macs, the ceiling lights in the Canon shot are so blown out that they've "bloomed" to obscure parts of the metal strips between the tiles. I still can't imagine why the OP thinks the Fuji exposure is wrong.

See my response above; this thread is not about the exposure metering at all.

I'm amazed that people keep bringing it up auto-metering. OP had both cameras on manual with the exact same settings!

OP, you've discovered what I noticed the day I got my XPro1. The "amazing high ISO" results that keep getting praised from people here are due to Fuji overstating their ISO value. So next time when someone say "my Fuji has 1 stop of noise advantage over your cam" you know that it means nothing, because Fuji's 6400 ISO is more like Canon's 4000 or 3200 ISO. Not too amazing now, is it?

HELLOCROWLEY!

HELLO TO YOU! you are most welcomed.

Not only because you understand the subject of this thread at once! also you are another victim of Fuji's unnecessary fooling marketing trick. Now in 2nd day I undersdant the iso performance that is spoken all around the web is a nothing more than a FAKE! it is relative. it really does not superior to any DSLR as it is said. For me at least 1 EV stop behind those brands!

The sad sad part, Fuji did a great machine as it is. They have to be honest in accuracy. There is no excuse for this. I can not return this camera, I will use, but I will always now why Nikon is Nikon and Canon is Canon after this example. They set standards and follow up. Fuji is just getting unfair legacy from their honesy. Even more sad part is that, these review sites are helping to Fuji on this fake marketing whereas we expect them to out Fuji's feet on ground not in clouds.

anyway, with best regards from dubai...
