Whats with PDAF?
The sensor has phase detection auto focus built into it. 100 and something points. on sensor PDAF is what the nikon 1 series uses to focus so fast. But...the canon m series also uses it....just not very well.....at all....they failed.
PDAF tells the camera how far away an object is. its is very useful. it gets the focus to that location very fast and then the contrast detection auto focus takes over for precise auto focus.
