I am considering D800/D800E and to a lesser extent D4.

What do users think about the card slots being different?
I do not own it, but I think that it is a nuisance.

I have no idea why they don't make it the same: CF + CF

or xQD + xQD

That's to assume that buyers are able to afford the cards.

Not an issue whatsoever. You have the choice of two different media rather than one. On the D800 you can use the CF cards you already have and add an eye-fi card in the SD slot. On the D4 you can use the CF cards you already have or get an xQD if you want to maximize performance. It's all just storage in different shapes each with some pros and cons that may or may not matter to you. I look at it as greater flexibility. If they used two of the same slots I'd live with that too... not a deciding factor for me.

Haven't been able to make the Eye-Fi card work on my D800. It did work on my D7000 while I had it.

I have the 8GB Pro X2 . I realize the Eye-Fi web site says it will work on the D800 with the latest firmware in the card but the Eye-Fi software says I have the latest. I know that others are having the same problem.

Force your router to use channel 11.  It should start working once you do that.
