Yes and No.

If your composition is on the same focal plane, focus and recompose might work.  If they are not, then depending up your F Stop, either one will be OOF.

Shuffling the focus point around among 61 AF points is not difficult, just needs a bit a practice. On 5D M3, they can move as fast as you want them too.

I wonder if anyone has done some testing with any Group A lens, as they have DOUBLE CROSS type sensors in the center.
