Well... It's over. Put a full new set of Epson cartridges in and got the same response...
So, I called the "local" Epson repair place. Without doing a "diagnostic" on the printer ($150) just to look at it, the tech I spoke with tole me it was most likely one of two electronic pieces... The cheapest would put the cost at well over $400, and the main board would put the cost in the $600 range.
The other option was a flat service fee Epson has. Which I recall is around $450, and only available at Epson. It's supposed to cover whatever repairs are needed... Adding the small fortune to ship the printer to Epson (you may have noticed what shipping costs have done these days), it'd only run at least $100 more than the printer originally cost.
And, when its all over, I"ll have the same clog-prone printer I had before... So, I think it's time to replace the 2880 and move on.
